Thursday, August 20, 2015 - Roper St. Francis Physician Partners network has reached the heart of Summerville.

Roper St. Francis physicians, teammates and leaders celebrated on Wednesday evening at the grand opening of three new Primary Care Partner and Express Care locations in and around Summerville.

“Many of our loyal Roper St. Francis Healthcare patients from the Summerville area have to commute to West Ashley, downtown Charleston or Mount Pleasant to see their doctors,” Roper St. Francis Healthcare President and CEO David Dunlap said Wednesday during a brief ceremony attended by Summerville Mayor Bill Collins and members of the Town Council. “Now Summerville residents can receive more convenient care right here in their hometown.”

More than a dozen patients will be seen today at the new primary care location at 1112 North Main Street. That office shares a parking lot on the same side of the street with the new Roper St. Francis Express Care, which will offer labs and X-rays. Express Care will open to patients on Monday, August 24. A 24-7 Walgreens is conveniently located next door to Express Care. Roper St. Francis Physician Partners also will open a primary care office at 9500 Dorchester Road near Westcott Plantation in about three weeks.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s expansion into Berkeley and Dorchester counties will continue into 2016 with the addition of 10 primary care providers.

During Wednesday’s ceremony at Express Care, Mr. Dunlap emphasized that making a personal connection with a primary care doctor will last a lifetime.

“A family’s physician is the healthcare expert that patients count on for years to come,” he said. “Primary care doctors often know all about the lives of their patients and their families, about their work, when their  son’s team wins the baseball tournament or about their daughter’s dance recital.

“We believe these locations in downtown Summerville and on Dorchester Road, in addition to our existing location at Cane Bay Primary Care, will make it easy for our new Summerville neighbors to access primary and express care.”

Moments later, Mr. Dunlap concluded the ceremony with: “The doctor will see you now.”

The Express Care in Summerville is the second Roper St. Francis Healthcare has opened in two years. The first opened in North Charleston around the corner from the Tanger Outlets on International Boulevard in October 2013.
Express Care offers an array of benefits that urgent care facilities do not, including:
- Patients pay the same co-pay as they would for a primary care visit
- The patient’s regular doctor receives immediate medical notes about their visit if they are seen by a Roper St. Francis Physician Partner

Dr. Nicole DeBerry
Dr. Brooke Benson
