Our orthopaedic program

Our goal is to help patients get back the quality of life they enjoyed before their orthopaedic injury. We offer many non-invasive therapies and the latest surgical techniques, which allows us to customize treatment to fit your needs.

We have the state’s busiest joint replacement program, which includes the latest robotic surgery tools, including the Mako® system. Both Roper Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital have received accreditation as Blue Distinction® Centers for Knee and Hip Replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield

Easy access to care

When you’re experiencing pain or an injury getting fast, effective treatment is critical. That’s why we offer same-day or next-day appointments with our orthopaedic team.

As the Lowcountry’s most comprehensive healthcare network, Roper St. Francis Healthcare has the largest number of orthopaedic locations in the Lowcountry. That means you’ll be able to find the expert care you need close to home.

Osteoporosis and fracture program

Roper St. Francis Healthcare offers Charleston’s only comprehensive osteoporosis program. Aligning orthopaedics, primary care, endocrinology, gynecology and internal medicine, the program streamlines treatment and increases access to care. Learn more about our osteoporosis and fracture program.

In-house durable medical equipment department

As part of Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s orthopaedic services, patients have easy access to durable medical equipment (DME). With an in-house DME Department, our orthopaedic doctors can give out DME during appointments, so you don’t need to fit and adjust the equipment on your own. You’ll have access to more than 200 DME items, such as:

  • Slings
  • Ankle and knee braces
  • Canes, crutches or walkers
  • Orthotics

If you need a custom-made device, such as a knee brace or orthotic, our specialized DME team can help. The DME team will work with you and your doctor to fit the device and show how to use it safely.
